  • Canine Companion: Student seeks permission for 'Abe' to come to school

    A Three Forks High School student approached the school board at their March 15 meeting seeking permission to bring her 17-week-old puppy Abe to school with her. Abe isn't just any ordinary dog. He is a Canine Companion in training. Canine Companions is an organization that trains and provides service dogs to disabled people at no cost to them. Canine Companions operates only one chapter in Montana, based in Big Sky. Before a puppy can become a service dog, it must receive preliminary training.   • Gianforte Honors National Champion Women's Bobcat Rodeo Team

    In a gathering last week at the State Capitol, Governor Greg Gianforte and Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras honored the Montana State University women's rodeo team for bringing home the national title in 2021. In addition to taking home the team trophy, individual members of the team also brought home awards.     The deadline for candidates to file for the 2022 Primary and General Elections in Montana has passed. The Primary Election is scheduled for June 7, and the General Election will take place on November 8.     Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reminds hunters that the deadline to apply for deer and elk licenses for nonresidents and deer and elk permits for everyone is April 1. Hunters who are applying for special licenses and permits need to have a valid email address.     As we approach another 4/06 day, Montana will look to remain the “406” for well into the future thanks to the Montana Public Service Commission’s efforts to ensure phone numbers are allocated more efficiently across the state.   • Basketball tournament planned to raise money for Taylor Hauser

    A five-on-five co-ed basketball tournament has been scheduled to help raise money for Three Forks resident Taylor Hauser. The tournament will take place on April 23 and 24 at the Boulder Elementary Gym. The cost per team is $200, and the funds raised will benefit the medical expenses for Hauser, who suffered a stroke in March.
