Last week, the Gallatin City-County Board of Health made a number of changes to local emergency rules that are meant to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in Gallatin County. A vehicle and numerous other items were taken last week from a residence in the Milligan Canyon area. According to Jefferson County Sheriff Craig Doolittle, the truck and items were stolen on April 4 around 6:15 a.m. on Cottonwood Road in Cardwell. Doolittle said the vehicle was taken from a residence where the owners were not home, and a neighbor saw the theft and called it in. The discussion of a proposed rest area near the Town Pump in Three Forks will be on the April 22 agenda of the Montana Transportation Commission. The commission will meet on April 22 in Helena to discuss the proposed Bozeman Rest Area Replacement Project. Recently I saw a patient who had experienced two consecutive days of pain in his right upper abdomen. I questioned him, looking for clues of gallstones, liver mass, or maybe an ulcer in the small bowel, but his answers did not fit my expectations. Well, we made another revolution around the sun... which means we are seeing green grass coming, longer days, and if you find areas with standing water, insect larvae. Unfortunately, amongst those larvae if you know what to look for there may be mosquito larvae as well, we've already found numerous larvae. Alice Irene Duffey Gottlob passed away Easter morning, April 4, 2021. She was 93 years young. Alice was born on January 24, 1928 to Emma (Pederson) and Sam Duffey and grew up at the family's homestead on Upper Deer Creek, east of Big Timber, Montana. She graduated from Big Timber High School in 1945 and married Keith Gottlob on November 19, 1950. They worked for several ranches throughout Montana before landing on the Lower Madison River working for Buck and Marcia Anderson's Climbing Arrow Ranch. Elaine Eva, 69, passed away on April 8, 2021 at Advanced Care Hospital of Montana. She was born May 27, 1951 in Sheridan, MT, the daughter of Clay Barney and Edith Paige. The Three Forks High School track and field team once again shined last week with some fantastic performances at a meet on April 9 in Livingston. Junior Jasmyn Murphy once again showed she is one of the best competitors in Montana with first-place finishes in the 200 meters, 300 hurdles, long jump, and triple jump.
