In response to this concern, FWP is embarking on research efforts to look into the declines and engage hunters about their attitudes on mule deer management and hunting. • From the Desk of Mr. Fanning: May Election

    Steve Fanning, TFES Principal|Apr 26, 2023

If you have not already, you should be soon receiving a mail-in ballot from Gallatin County. Three Forks School District has been working to provide valuable information to voters to assist them with making an informed decision. The biggest piece of advice that I can share is to vote!! In the 2022 spring election Three Forks School District only had approximately 900 voters participate. These numbers are extremely low and we ENCOURAGE you to get out and vote. Ballots can either be mailed or dropped off at the Gallatin County Elections Office,... Full story

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Apr 26, 2023

The Three Forks High School Track and Field team continues to produce impressive results with a strong showing at last week’s Manhattan Christian Invite at Gallatin High School. The girls’ team finished third out of 19 teams, and the boys’ finished fifth out of 17. “We were missing a few seniors, so that hurt us overall, but it did allow for some of our younger athletes to get crucial reps,” said Head Coach Casey McWethy. “It’s clear we are getting into track shape as our numbers continue to i... Full story

  • Opinion: Farmers, Ranchers, and Irrigators Urge Opposition to Permanent Water Court Bill

    Carl DeVries|Apr 26, 2023

Disclaimer: The views expressed in Op-Ed’s published in the Three Forks Voice are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the publication. I have been blessed to be operating alongside the 5th generation of our family ranch in Roberts, Montana. Ranch families like mine understand the importance of neighbors, community, and keeping decision making at the most local level possible. That’s why we are deeply concerned about an effort by attorneys to jam a bill through the Montana Legislature that would take away local power and... Full story

  • Column: It's about time to mow the lawn

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Apr 26, 2023

It’s just about time to do the first mow of the season, and I have mixed feelings about it. In fact, it would be safe to say I have a love/hate relationship with my mower. One of the most significant issues with the first mow of the year is the amount of poop I have in my yard. I don’t own a dog, but my neighbor’s dog uses my front and back yard as its own private toilet. I wouldn’t mind as much as I do if the dog wasn’t a jerk, but he’s about one step away from Cujo. I have many other animal droppings in the yard, along with Fido next door. I... Full story

Head Coach Aaron Harkins said Three Forks had another great day on the course while competing at a tournament in Livingston. The girls' squad finished in an impressive second place with a team total of 411, and the boys finished in fourth place. Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Apr 26, 2023

A busy week of action in Billings was plenty successful for the Three Forks High School Tennis team. • Coaches Corner: Disappointments

    Ellie West, Contributing Writer|Apr 26, 2023

Disappointments in life will happen. Life is not easy or fair, and none of us are exempt from struggles or disappointments. Do not fall into the entitlement trap. There will be things in your life that will throw you off course. But you can get through it - we are all in the same boat. Write down challenges you may have encountered in a situation that disappointed you, and grow from them. When I become disappointed, I journal all my positive attributes - my strengths and characteristics, even if they seem minor. That is what builds your... Full story

  • Pro-housing zoning bills advance, but big funding remains in limbo

    Eric Dietrich, Montana Free Press|Apr 26, 2023

A slate of zoning bills intended to spur home construction by limiting how local governments can regulate housing development appears headed toward passage following votes on the floor of the Montana House in recent weeks. However, bills that would put money from the state’s $2.5 billion budget surplus toward housing affordability remain in limbo as the Legislature enters the final weeks of its 2023 session. Home prices and rents have soared across Montana in recent years, in part because rapid in-migration has crowded the state’s finite supply... Full story
