    Three Forks High School junior Jasmyn Murphy is a state champion. Murphy finished in first in the long jump at last week's Class B State Meet in Laurel with a winning mark of 17 feet and .25 inches. Head Coach Tracy Welter praised Murphy for her performance. "She has worked her tail off in season and offseason to be a champion," she said.   • Survey results show interest in local bus service

    Amid a five-year update on the City of Three Forks Growth Policy, preliminary results of an ongoing questionnaire show 131 of 265 responders indicating they would like to see some sort of local bus system or rideshare program. A bus pickup service would not be entirely new for the City of Three Forks. According to City Councilmen and HRDC Board member Gene Townsend, a trial run of bus services to Bozeman was offered in 2010.   • City of Three Forks Awarded 2021 Recreation Trails Grant

    Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks announced last week that the City of Three Forks was one of 42 trail organizations, communities, and various land-managing agencies throughout the state to receive federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant awards for their projects in 2021. The City of Three Forks was awarded partial funding of $52,500 to be used to help pave .8 miles of the Headwaters Trail System. The county had asked for funding of $69,999 for the project.   • Summer Speaker Series Starts June 12

    The Missouri Headwaters State Park, Summer Speaker Series, will start next week. The theme in 2021 is “Significance of Public Lands” and will take each Saturday through mid-August at 7 p.m. at the campground. The series will start on June 12 with Montana songwriter and musician Rob Quist. The schedule for the rest of June includes Mark Filonczuk, who on June 19 will discuss trail access in public lands.     Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF), the leader in financial education in middle and high schools in the U.S., has issued Three Forks High School a $1,000 Grant under its Mission: 2025 Challenge after the school added Personal Finance as an elective for the 2021-2022 School Year. She was born in Great Falls, Montana to Jim and Kay Greer. She grew up in Simms Montana, with a short 3 year stay in San Diego California with her family.     Lawrence "Larry" Benjamin Laird, 88, of Three Forks, Montana, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, in his home with his family. Larry was born on August 2, 1932, in International Falls, Minnesota. He was Claude and Ellen Laird's firstborn. Larry enjoyed taking his family's boat, traveling out on Rainy Lake, camping, and fishing as a kid. He was also quite an athlete growing up.     HELENA — A district court judge on Friday temporarily enjoined the enforcement date of House Bill 102, the bill that would expand permissions for concealed carry firearms on campus starting June 1.     On Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at approximately 7:20 pm, Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue in Big Sky responded to a request for assistance from two hikers that fell into the South Fork of the Gallatin River. The first individual slipped and fell into the river and the second individual jumped into the water to assist.     The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to resurface about 6 miles of Highway 287, north of Ennis. The project begins at the intersection of US-287 and MT-287 and extends north for 6 miles ending near McAllister. Proposed work includes resurfacing the existing surface and painting new pavement markings.
