    The Gallatin County Commissioners terminated the interlocal agreement that formed the Three Forks Area Ambulance District at their July 12 meeting following months of discussion and a decision by the Three Forks City Council to end the agreement at its June 14 meeting.   • Marijuana discussion dies at city council meeting

    A motion to allow residents of Three Forks to vote on whether to allow certain marijuana businesses within city limits died at the Three Forks City Council on July 12. Councilwoman Nancy Todd motioned to draft the language on the ballot and Councilman Steve Dahl seconded the motion. The motion died with four council members–Gene Townsend, George Chancellor, Debra Mickelberry and Brooke McLees–voting against it. Todd and Dahl voted in favor of adding the language to the ballot.     On Saturday, July 23, the Headwaters Bank Run will make its "COVID comeback" and take to the trails with approximately 100 runners. Racers can still register to participate in a 5K, 10K and a half-marathon online or at the event for $30.     Montana Fish, Wildlife & Park announced July 14 a daily fishing restriction is now in place for the lower Madison River to reduce fish stress and mortality during high water temperatures. The hoot-owl fishing restriction, which prohibits fishing each day between 2 p.m. and midnight, applies from the Warm Springs Boat Launch to the Madison River's confluence with the Jefferson River.     Cadet Senior Airman (SrA) Olivia Roberts, attached to Gallatin Composite Squadron in Bozeman, attended Civil Air Patrol's (CAP) 2022 Utah Wing Drone Academy, held on campus at Utah State University in Price, Utah, July 12 to 15.     The Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet over Zoom at 6 p.m. on Aug. 2 to consider a proposal to postpone the implementation of a commercial use cap on the Madison River. In 2020, the commission adopted rules regarding recreational use of the Madison River. These rules included a commercial use cap that would limit fishing outfitting and guiding for each outfitter and guide to the number of trips they reported in 2019 or 2020, whichever is higher.
