The Three Forks School Board approved four new hires and a bus driver signing bonus for the 2022-23 school year, during its July 19 meeting. The board hired Sarah Dolan and Sarah Sapp as the middle school's and high school's secretary, respectively. Aaron Lattimore was also hired as the district's behavioral support and in school suspension supervisor. Craig Potts was rehired as the district's transportation and grounds manager. Area wrestlers will get a chance to "wrestle under the lights" on August 6 at the Keith Pierce Memorial Folkstyle Tournament at the Three Forks High School football field. According to tournament director Shaun Hungerford, this is the third time Friends of Three Forks Wrestling has hosted the event. "The kids enjoy wrestling outside. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will hold a public hearing via telephone to collect comment on an administrative rule change that was proposed by the Fish and Wildlife Commission at its June meeting. The public hearing will be Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. and will be on a rule proposal to postpone the implementation of a commercial use cap on the Madison River. STAFF REPORT The Headwaters Bank Run returned to Three Forks last Saturday for the first time since 2019. Sixty-eight competitors participated in the 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon. The top female finisher in the 5K was Desirae Raffety of Willow Creek with a time of 26:53. The top male finisher was Charlie Serafin of Livingston with a time of 18:42. Wade Ray Hansen of Three Forks took his final ride to Heaven on July 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Wade was born on April 24th, 1965, to Jay and Patricia Hansen in Glasgow, Montana. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public input on revisions to the statewide Elk Management Plan last adopted in 2005. FWP began work on the revised plan in 2020, when a citizen’s group was convened to develop guiding principles for the new plan. STAFF REPORT It was a busy July 20 for the Three Forks Volunteer Fire Department responding to four fire calls within 90 minutes. The department had also responded to a wind driven grass fire on July 18. The department also announced last week that open burning had been closed in the Three Forks Fire District including parts of the district that are in Broadwater County. The Three Forks School District will require an annual registration process for all students beginning with the 2022-23 school year. This will be an on-line process that will require parents to update household and contact information annually.
