The Three Forks Area Historical Society's annual Ice Cream Social will be celebrating the Headwaters Heritage Museums' 40th anniversary. The social and celebration are scheduled on Saturday, September 11, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the museum's backyard at 202 S. Main in Three Forks. With the city on the brink of a $4.15 million FEMA grant, the Three Forks City Council has begun discussion of methods to fund the remaining 25% of the project cost. During its Aug. 23 meeting, the council received advice from Natural Resources Business Unit Manager for Great West Engineering Jeremiah Theys and attorney Nathan Bilyeu. Farmers, ranchers and local food processors can learn strategies for growing and selling their products to school districts at the Montana Farm to School producer training this September. Preparing for the return of students to campus, the Three Forks School Board approved the high school and elementary school’s budgets which featured increases in transportation cost and fund increases resulting from low expenses in the previous school year. Both the high school and the elementary school transportation budgets increased by $16,000 and $18,000, respectively. Every so often, I get in a bit of a rut when it comes to the nightly dinner menu, and we seem to be eating tacos and spaghetti a bit more than we probably should. During the summer of 2021, I had a wonderful experience working at the Three Forks Visitors Information Center. It served as a great way to promote the Three Forks area and meet and visit with many of the people who were visiting the area. During this time, I was also able to see in person the hard-working members of the Three Forks Area Historical Society. I quickly learned just how valuable their efforts are for the community. The Montana Fish and Wildlife commission recently to reinstate a cap on the number of Yellowstone-area wolves that hunters and trappers can kill, abandoning an approach that allowed hunters and trappers to kill 21 wolves last season. For the second straight week, the Three Forks High School football team used a dominant second-half performance on their way to a 30-8 home September 2 win over Thompson Falls. David Bohrer was born in Fargo North Dakota on March 1,1940 and passed away on Sunday August 21st, 2022 at 12:01 PM in Billings MT at the ST Vincent Hospital. He is with our Father in Heaven surrounded by our families. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years Sharon Bohrer, a son Bob Bohrer, and 2 daughters Linda Melgren and Glenda, 1 grandson Jaden Bohrer, 2 granddaughters Alexus "Lexi" Mashburn, and Lindsey Melgren. Four-year-old Lulu and her family were a day's drive away by the time they realized one of their family members was missing. Miffy-a blue stuffed bunny and Lulu's best friend-got left behind at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park while the family was vacationing from Washington. Now they were in the Tetons, and Lulu was heartbroken. Lulu's mom left a voicemail with the Caverns that night, hoping for the best.
