    In an effort to educate voters about November's bond issue, Gallatin County is offering public tours of the Law and Justice Center. Evening tours will be offered September 19, October 1, October 10, and October 28 starting at 6 p.m. at Community Room of the Gallatin County Detention Center, located at 605 S. 16th Ave., directly behind the Law and Justice Center.   • Caverns Cleaning event set for next week

    Montana State Parks will host a cave cleaning event at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park will on Saturday, September 28 at 9 a.m. Each year Lewis & Clark Caverns brings over 60,000 visitors through the cave system leaving behind dust and debris which can inhibit the growth of the cave formations. Lewis & Clark Caverns relies on volunteer efforts to help fight the problems that these contaminants create. This cave cleaning project will help restore parts of the cave that are highly impacted by humans while raising awareness for cave protection....

    Lyla E. Schedel, 77, passed away September 8, 2019 in Three Forks. Lyla was born April 11, 1942 at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to Julius and Edith Olson. She was raised and attended school in Three Forks. Lyla married Dean Schedel in 1965. They raised their children Vicky, Darby, Stacy, Dan, Gina, and Darin in Three Forks. Lyla had severe arthritis for nearly 40 years, but rarely complained and stayed busy. She enjoyed leather work, ceramics, and sewing. She loved participating in the area craft shows.     Fall has arrived in Southwest Montana and I must say it is easily my favorite season the year. I love to leave the house for work on a crisp morning and see the temperature slowly rise to a comfortable high later in the day.     For the second straight week, the Three Forks/Willow Creek High School football team will be on the road for a 5B Conference game when they travel to take on Columbus.     A late change in the schedule had the Three Forks High School and Junior High Cross Country teams traveling to compete at last Saturday's Bozeman Invite. The Wolves original meet in Pony was cancelled and instead they made the short trip to battle against a strong field in Bozeman. Head Coach Tara Forsberg said the heat got to the girls team, adding they are still down and hoping to have a full squad in two weeks.
