Great year at rodeo arena

January 30, 2019

2018 was a great year for rodeo in Three Forks.

Rodeo Board Chairman Chuck Wambeke discussed the year during his yearly report to the Three Forks City Council.

Wambeke told Council members there were a total of 22 events, the grounds were occupied 37 days, and they brought in $181,000. Their expenses for the year were $116,000. Using 2001 as an example of the growth at the grounds, he said they brought in a little under $20,000, had 10 events, and the grounds were occupied 20 days.

Wambeke spoke highly of the 2018 Three Forks Rodeo , adding there was a larger than normal Friday crowd of 2,450 and a Saturday attendance of 2,550. He said the normal Friday crowd is around 1,000 and it was bigger than usual because of the family fun night where kids could get into the rodeo by bringing a donation for the food bank.

Wambeke added a big screen providing live and replay action was also a hit with spectators in 2018 and this year they will have sponsors cover the cost.

He also lauded the 75 to 100 volunteers they have yearly who help put on the rodeo and said they could not do it without their help. The 2019 Three Forks Rodeo is scheduled for July 19 and 20.
