It will be a rivalry game for the Three Forks High School girls basketball team when they open the 5B District Tournament Thursday at 6 p.m. against Manhattan.

The fourth-seeded Lady Wolves (7-11, 3-7 5B District) defeated the Lady Tigers 53-40 at home prior to Christmas break and fell on the road 48-47 earlier this month at Manhattan.

Head Coach Mike Sauvageau said the girls want to play Manhattan again and it should be a fun and exciting game.

"With the district tournament, you have to be ready to play if you want to advance to the next tournament. We've been working towards the tournament the past couple weeks and hopefully we can put something together for Thursday," he said.

Three Forks ended their regular season last week with a 46-38 loss Friday night against Deer Lodge and a 46-38 Saturday at home against fourth-ranked Columbus.

The Lady Wolves were tied with four minutes to go against Deer Lodge, but Sauvageau said the Lady Wardens were able to hit two consecutive three's.

"We battled them and gave them a good run, but we turned the ball over at some crucial times and they hit the three's that turned the tide in their favor."

Senior Kyle Olson led the team in scoring with 20 and Paeton Ohs was also in double figures with 12. Kendall Lynn added four and Brenna Bloch finished with two.

Three Forks would take a 14-10 lead at the end of the first quarter Saturday against Columbus, but Sauvageau said after that his team didn't get many good looks, started to turn the ball over, and got into foul trouble.

"They hit four three's in the first half. Whenever they needed one they got one. Columbus is a good team for a reason," he said. "We have played a lot of good teams this year and we've battled them. We've been in games all year long, but our inexperience is showing down the stretch. We're not getting the job done when we need to."
