Lady Wolves win District Title

For the third consecutive season the Three Forks High School girls basketball are the 5B District Tournament Champions.

The fourth-seeded Lady Wolves took down third-seeded Big Timber 51-42 in Saturday’s night championship at the Belgrade Events Center.

Senior Kyle Olson had a huge night for Three Forks with a game high 30 points. Kendall Lynn added nine, Paeton Ohs finished with five, and Breanna Bloch, Keaton Lynn and Kinzee Howey each added two points.

Moments after the game, head coach Mike Sauvageau praised the hard work and determination of this team during the three games of the tournament.

“To be able to win the championship and take home the trophy is great for these kids,” he said.

The opening minutes belonged to the Lady Herders who took early command of the game and took a 14-5 lead into the second quarter.

The Lady Wolves offense came to life in the second and they took their first lead of the game of the game 20-18 with 17 seconds on a three from Olson. Big Timber would answer with three of their own and take a 21-20 lead into the break. It was a big half for Olson who scored 14.

Olson continued her hot shooting in hitting two three-pointers and gave Three Forks their biggest lead of the game 32-27 with two minutes left in the quarter. The Lady Herders would answer back with a three of their own to cut the lead to 32-30 going into the fourth.

After Big Timber tied the game at 32, Kenzie Howey put Three Forks up 34-32 on an assist from Olson. This would set the stage for a huge run for the Lady Wolves who pushed their lead to 43-33 on basket from Kendall Lynn.
