Child Care Connections event next week

September 11, 2019

With growth in Three Forks and the surrounding area, child care options are becoming limited.

Child Care Connections, a nonprofit child care resource and referral agency is hosting an event Tuesday, September 17 to discuss the child care situation in Three Forks, Manhattan, and Churchill.

The event is scheduled to take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Three Forks Library located at 607 S. Main Street.

A special event next week will discuss thoughts on child care options in the Three Forks area.

Tori Sproles, Professional Development Coordinator for Child Care Connections, said they would like to hear from business owners, parents, school personnel and child care providers. She added the input they would like to hear is how does child care effect the community, what are the challenges, and what are the needs?

Sproles said the largest center in Three Forks recently closed and there are only two licensed providers with a capacity of 18 children. She added there is one program in Manhattan with a capacity of 12 children and one in Churchill with a capacity of 45 children.

"Where are all the other children going?" she said.

Sproles also wanted to remind local residents that because they are providing food and there is limited space at the Three Forks Library, those wanting to attend must RSVP for the event by emailing [email protected] or calling 406-587-7786.

"These types of events are extremely important to provide feedback and input on how child care effects the community," she said.
