Lady Wolves finish strong at Huntley Project tournament

September 25, 2019

After a rough start to the day, the Three Forks High School volleyball team bounced back in impressive fashion at last Saturday's Huntley Project Tournament.

The Lady Wolves ended their day with a second place in the silver bracket.

Head coach Tracy Welter said the team started the one-day tournament pretty sluggish losing both sets to Roundup and Colstrip and splitting their two sets against Red Lodge. She added at times they were in sync, but most of the time they played catch up.

Macey Combs gets ready to set in action earlier this year against Ennis. The Lady Wolves will host Whitehall Saturday.

Welter said after starting bracket play with a win over Park City the team really started to get in sync.

"Everyone played team ball and it was fun to watch," she said.

It was a monster day for Kirsten Klompien who a had a team high in assists (24), kills (16), aces (7) and blocks (6).

McKenzie Feddes led the team with 31 digs. Macey Combs had a great tournament with 19 assists, 14 digs, and nine kills. Erin Welter was strong with 21 digs and 15 kills.

Welter said the team will be tested again Thursday when they travel for a matchup against Jefferson.

"It's a tough gym to play in so we need to ride this wave," she said.

The team will wrap up the week with a Saturday home game against Whitehall.

"The girls are looking forward to a rematch with Jefferson and to meet Whitehall for Homecoming!" Welter said.
