2 local businesses step up for benefit of Willow Creek School

February 26, 2020

2 local businesses recently stepped up for the benefit of Willow Creek School.

NW Pipe of Belgrade and Three Forks Plumbing donated three water-bottle filling stations and labor.

According to science teacher Joyce Ann Pollastro, the school started a fundraising campaign last fall and were slowing getting some funds when Brandon Bentley called from NW Pipe in Belgrade and said that former Willow Creek Student, Blake Malone mentioned the fundraiser to him and that NW Pipe wanted to donate all three water-bottle filling stations to the school.

Pollastro added when the school mentioned they didn't have it in the budget for installation, Brandon contacted Three Forks Plumbing and Abe Ferreyra offered to donate the plumbing labor.

"Since the install in early January, Willow Creek Students are drinking much more water during the day as we encourage them to bring water bottles to class. Staying hydrated is essential for proper brain function and for enhanced performance in school lessons and sports. In addition, according to the number tracking how many plastic water bottles we've kept out of the landfill (a feature on each water-bottle station), by using our water bottles here at WC, we've reduced well over 1,000 plastic water bottles in just over a month since the install," she said.

A school-wide "Thank You" assembly to properly show gratitude to NW Pipe and Three Forks Plumbing is scheduled for March 3 at 12:35 p.m.

Willow Creek School is an open-enrollment public school in Gallatin County, and currently has limited spaces in grades Pre-K-through 12 open for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.
