The Senior Center

We were well entertained last Thursday by JessieJane singing and playing the acoustical guitar. Her voice is lovely and she plays guitar very well! She will be back to entertain us again!

Our project to move the health equipment out of the basement is compete. We have many items to loan - from canes to power wheelchairs. If you need an item, either come to the Center during our operating hours (8 am to 3 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) or call 285-3235. Leave a message on the answering machine and we will respond as soon as possible. On the weekend, call Jean at 570-0800.

As part of the health equipment move, we need to give away three more pieces of exercise equipment. The stationary bike is gone, but there is still a stair stepper, a treadmill and a strider. The price is right! Take one or more of them out of our way, please. We're keeping three good exercise machines, so members can still come and work out any time they want.

After dinner on Tuesdays and Thursdays there is Pinochle for whatever number of players are available. There might be 6-hand or 5-hand or 4-hand or 3-hand games. The Wednesday Pinochle is more organized. The charge to play on Wednesday is 60 cents, and a penalty of 10 cents if you go set. Games begin right at 1:00 and we play 4 games of 4 hands each. The 60 cents goes to the four highest scorers, and the 10 cents goes to the last Double Pinochle melded. Last Wednesday there were 8 players for Pinochle. The top four scorers were: Diane Allen, Dorothy LeTempt, Mel Hamilton and Jane Walker. The Double Pinochle pot went to Dorothy and Evelyn Sauvageau.

BINGO! is on Thursdays at about 12:30. Come and have dinner with us before that or not. Bingo begins at 12:30. Cards are $1 each and the money is paid out to the winners.

The meals delivered to those at home who cannot come to the Center (Meals on Wheels) are the same menu served for those who do. The food is always good and the menu is healthfully balanced. Meals include all side dishes, coffee, tea, milk, OJ and dessert! The price is only $6.00 for those younger than 60. For those 60 and over the suggested donation is $4.00. If you would like to just have a meal prepared to go, that is also doable. In any case, call 285-3235 before 8 am to let Trish know you want a meal, unless your name is on our "regulars" list. Those on the "regulars" list are asked to call if they will not want a meal that day. We deliver meals to Three Forks, Old Town and Willow Creek. Let us know if you or someone needs this service. The most convenient way for us to do this is to let you know at the end of the month how many meals you received and you can give us a check for the total. Once a month - like most everything else.

If you would like to be a Meals on Wheels delivery person, contact Trish at the Center. Deliverers are volunteers and cannot accept tips, but their meal is provided. I've been doing this for several years and I find it to be very rewarding. I realize I might be the only friendly face the person sees all day.
