The governing body approved unanimously to award the bid in the amount of $58,463.94 to Earth Surgeons Excavation LLC.

The new bleachers will bring even more fun to the Three Forks Rodeo Grounds.

Ahren Hastings with the rodeo board said they needed to hire a local contractor to do foundation and site work including installing footing pads, reached out to four contractors, and received bids from two.

He added Earth Surgeons has shown a lot of familiarity with the project, has made multiple site visits, and could be ready to start as soon as this week.

Council member Gene Townsend said the issue was also discussed at the last rodeo board meeting and the board recommended to the council to go with Earth Surgeons.

Council also approved to purchase a budgeted min-excavator from Tractor and Equipment Company for $65,319. Mayor Sean Gifford said this will save the city money in the long run.

City Treasurer Kelly Smith said the city currently spends $6,000 a year renting one.
