'Scouting for Food' Drive a huge success

The Three Forks Cub Scout Pack 3523/Troop 0523 had a goal of collecting over 1,000 pounds with their recent "Scouting for Food" drive. The local Scouts were able to meet their goal with an impressive total of 1,177 pounds that were donated to the Headwaters Area Food Bank.

According to Food Bank Operations Director Kim Gelder, this year's total was the most they have ever donated.

"Those kids were so excited. It's great to see young kids getting excited to help out our community. February, March, and April seem to be our low time for getting donations in and it can be some of our busiest times of the year. The need for food never slows down. That is why it is so important to get food drives like this one. That much food really helps us in making more food boxes available. It also helps us to keep our food purchases down," she said. "The Three Forks community has been doing an amazing job at helping us to keep our shelves filled with food for those who need just a little bit of help."

Donations can be dropped off at the center located at 216 1st Ave. W on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday from Noon to 6 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
