Spring Rummage Sale later this month

It's once again time for the annual Three Forks United Methodist Church Spring Rummage Sale.

The sale is scheduled for April 28 to April 30 and is one of two per year hosted by the church located at 124 2nd Avenue East.

According to congregation member Diane Phillips, the church has been hosting the rummage sale for over 40 years, with Jane Ann Cooper leading the sale for over 20 years, then Lynnette Van Luchene stepping in for another ten plus years.

"We now have various people step up. We thank all our volunteers as we couldn't do it without them," Phillips said.

Over the last 20 years, the church has hosted sales in the spring and fall.

"It helps our church financially, but more importantly it benefits a lot of the families in town with clothes, shoes, bedding, cookware, and other household items. We try to take in clean and very usable donations. People depend on these sales," Phillips said.

Donations will be accepted Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to Noon, Monday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to Noon.

"The community is very generous in donating items for the sale. We usually have more donations than we can accept due to space. We are very thankful to all who donate," Phillips said.

The sale will kick off on the 28th from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Moonlight Madness Sale. The hours for the Rummage Sale on the 29 are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The 29th will also include a Half-Price Sale from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It will be a busy Saturday, April 30, starting with a Buck-a-Bag Sale from 9 a.m. to Noon. A Sloppy Joe Luncheon (Drive through or Dine-In) is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until supplies last. A Free for All (no-food included) is scheduled from Noon to 2 p.m. A bake sale is also scheduled for Saturday.

Phillips said there is always a huge crowd on Thursday, Friday is steady, and with the reduced prices, bake sale, and sloppy joe meal, there is always a crowd on Saturday.

Organizers are accepting clean, working, and useable items. Those donating are asked not to bring electronics, computers/monitors, TVs, mattresses, pillows, entertainment stands, or full-sized furniture. As far as clothes, please do not bring anything stained, dirty, or flawed. Please do not bring car seats, opened used or expired health/skincare products, or anything broken.
