3 Qualify for Fargo Nationals

Three Forks Wrestling will be well represented at the 2023 US Marine Corps Junior and 16U Nationals set for July 15 to 23 in Fargo, North Dakota.

Competing at the recent USAW Northwest Regional Tournament in Centralia, WA, three local wrestlers qualified for the prestigious national tournament.

High School Junior Cole Rogers finished first in Freestyle and was third in Greco in the 113-pound Junior Division. A two-time Class B State Champion, this was the first regional title in Rogers's decorated wrestling career. Rogers qualified for Nationals in both Freestyle and Greco.

Fresh off a Class B State Title, Dylan Kamps finished fourth in the Junior 152 Pound division.

Eighth-grader Mathias Hogue qualified for Fargo with a sixth-place finish in Greco in the 16U 132-pound division. Hogue fell one win short of qualifying in Freestyle.

Rogers opened the Freestyle tournament with 10-0 technical falls over Carson Jackson of Oregon and Zack Hoover of California. He won the title with a 20-9 technical fall victory over Ryan Nuno of Idaho.

In Greco, Hogue won by forfeit over Alex Fenwick of Washington, won by pin at 41 seconds over Rosendo Aparicio of Washington, and won by technical fall 12-3 over Wyatt Trogden of Washington.

Kamps won by forfeit over Chase Warnick, by technical fall 12-0 over Michael Smith, and 11-3 over Rixen Dailey. In the consolation semifinals, Kamps won by technical fall 8-0 over Dustin Baxter.

Carson Lattimore of Three Forks fell just short of qualifying after losing in the blood round but was later named the Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament in Freestyle.

Jack Hayder picked up two wins wrestling in the Greco Junior 145-pound division.

In the festival division, Tatum Todd finished first in Greco and Freestyle in the 14U 125-pound division.
