Bicycle ride on August 24 to honor Moore, DeLaittre

A bicycle ride to honor fallen law enforcement officers Broadwater County Sheriff's Deputy Mason Moore and Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David DeLaittre is scheduled for later this week.

Members of the Honor Roll Association, a non-profit organization that sponsors cycling events to memorialize law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and pay tribute to the families left behind, will participate in the ride scheduled for Saturday, August 24. The ride will start at approximately 10 a.m. at the Broadwater County Sheriff's Office in Townsend and follow US 287 to the David DeLaittre Memorial Park at 18500 Jefferson River Road outside of Three Forks. A picnic will occur at the park after the ride finishes around 1:30 p.m.

According to Jodi Moore of the Mason Moore Foundation, the public is invited to participate in the ride, cheer the riders along during the route, and attend the picnic. Those wanting to join the ride can register at https://masonmoorefoundation.com/products/honor-bike-ride-participant.

Ellen Pierson with the Honor Roll Association said local riders who sign up must wear a helmet and adhere to Montana safety rules and regulations.

Founded in 2016 by a Special Agent of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Honor Roll Association is comprised of active and retired law enforcement officers, and survivors of fallen officers.

"I am always grateful for organizations and people that want to continue to remember and honor our Fallen. We are excited that the Honor Bike Ride team has reached out to us and looking forward to the event and also looking forward to the opportunity to have the public learn more about the Honor Bike Ride, Trooper David DeLaittre Memorial Park, and the Mason Moore Foundation," Jodi Moore said.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David DeLaittre, 23, was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty on December 1, 2010, near Three Forks.

Broadwater County Sheriff's Deputy Mason Moore, 42, was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty on May 16, 2017, on US 287 near Three Forks. He is survived by his wife, Jodi, and three children.

"We must never forget law enforcement officers lost in the line of duty. We ride to honor those we lost. We want their families and coworkers to know they will never be forgotten," Pierson said.
