The Three Forks School Board has a new member.

The trustees voted unanimously to appoint Robert Buchholz to the position vacated by Candace Rochford. He will serve in the position until the next trustee election in May of 2020.

Buchholz had previously run in May election for the seat currently held by Stephene Kamerman.

In his monthly report to the trustees, Superintendent Jeff Elliott discussed the vacant assistant principal/transportation position that was formerly held by current high school principal Greg Heys. Elliott said they conducted interviews and with it being a unique position they found the candidates were lacking in the transportation area.

He said the decision was made to hire a transportation director as a classified position for 20 hours a week and theywould not hire an assistant principal. Elliott told the trustees this would save the district about $70,000, adding they understand the financial difficulties the district has gone through and himself and the two other principals would be taking on more roles.

Elliott said he also planned on having a booth at Three Forks Rodeo so he could listen and get input from the community about a bond for the district in the future.

In other business, the trustees vote to approve the hiring of Jessica Oehmcke as a Business Education/Technology teacher.
