Vandalism reported at Three Forks church

August 28, 2019

The Three Forks United Methodist Church was vandalized over the weekend.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a disturbing case of vandalism that took place over the weekend at the United Methodist Church in Three Forks.

According to Sergeant Dan McDonough sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, someone spray painted "God is Dead", "666", and other inappropriate messages on the church located at 124 2nd Ave. E.

McDonough said there is currently an open criminal mischief investigation and once a suspect or suspects are apprehended, they would like to discuss with them the intent behind the message. He added this is the only reported local vandalism of this nature.

Three Forks Mayor Sean Gifford addressed the vandalism through a City of Three Forks Facebook post.

"The City of Three Forks does not tolerate hate of any kind," Gifford said.

Anyone with information about the vandalism at the United Methodist Church in Three Forks can contact the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office at 406-582-2100.
