THE SENIOR CENTER

September 4, 2019

Our beautification project is moving right along. The plan for putting the name on the building is settled. At the quarterly business meeting on Tuesday, the 3rd (at this moment that’s still in the future) we will decide on the style of the new front windows. One benefit of membership in the Senior Citizens’ Club is the right to vote on such issues. Another benefit is the 24/7 access to our exercise room with treadmills, stationary bikes, an elliptical trainer, etc. And when the weather turns cold, members can bring their outdoor potted plants into that room for safekeeping over the winter. The room has huge windows to the south, and tables on which to place the pots. In the winter, that is such a pleasant place to be.

Member or not, you are welcome to play Bingo on Thursdays at 12:30, or Pinochle on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30. Our serious Pinochle is on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. This one costs 60 cents to play and 10 cents to go set. If you want to play, please be here by 1:00. Last Wednesday, there were only 7 players, so we didn’t pay to play and just played a four-hand and a three-hand table.

And, member or not, you are welcome to have dinner with us at 12:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Call 285-3235 by 8:00 am to reserve a place.

If you are interested in being a member, the dues are $10 a year.

For, as I like a young man in whom there is something of the old, so I like an old man in whom there is something of the young; and he who follows this maxim, in body will possibly be an old man, but he will never be an old man in mind. -CICERO
