Our View: District videos a job well done

January 8, 2020

Over the past several weeks, Three Forks Superintendent Jeff Elliott has been putting "State of the School" videos on YouTube. During the videos which are a few minutes long, Elliott discusses a variety of topics including the need for more space, financial issues and problems with their current facilities.

We would like to applaud Elliott for not only taking the time to put together the videos but an honest and straightforward approach about issues within the district. It's akin to a fireside chat and feels like he is talking directly to each and every resident of the district.

As you can read in just about every edition of the Three Forks Voice, there are so many positives going on in the Three Forks School District. There are amazing administrators, teachers, coaches and most importantly students. There is so much for not only the district to be proud of but the entire community.

With the need for more space and to take care of problems with their facilities, the district is not only looking at adding portable classrooms but will be moving forward with a bond issue.

This is certainly not an editorial endorsing or against any sort of bond for the schools, but it is saying that Elliot's proactive approach with the videos is very positive for the district moving forward.

With a bond defeated recently, the district MUST reach out to the public and let them know the exact issues they are facing with growth and their buildings. While the videos are certainly not the only way they will do this, it is a really good way to start to get their message across to as many people as possible.
