Food Bank in need of holiday items

The Headwaters Area Food Bank in Three Forks has recently seen an increase in traffic. With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner the numbers are expected to only get higher.

Operations Director Kim Gelder said on a normal month they give out 40 boxes, and last month it was larger then normal. She added they are anticipating 50 to 75 more Thanksgiving boxes this year, with a goal of 150 available by November 21.

"In this time of COVID, donations are more important than I have even seen. Our numbers continue to go up. We give out our Thanksgiving boxes the Saturday before Thanksgiving so that people have time to plan their meal and let the turkey thaw. If people would like to donate, we need to have all the donations on or before November 20," she said.

Among the items on the wish list for Thanksgiving are turkeys, canned yams/sweet potatoes, stuffing mix, cream of mushroom soup, pie crust mix, pumpkin, and Jell-O.

Donations can be dropped off at the center located at 216 1st Ave. W on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday from Noon to 6 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
