Headwaters Invite Saturday

After another successful meet last week in Butte, the Three Forks High School Cross Country team will compete at home this week at Saturday’s Headwaters Invitational.

Along with the host Wolves, the meet scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the Headwaters Golf Course will include 11 other teams.

“We have new teams coming this weekend and are excited to see how the day goes,” Head Coach Tara Forsberg said.

The Three Forks boys had the top finish for Class B schools at last week’s Butte Invitational. Forsberg said the team was missing Garrett Golding due to a minor injury, but the other boys stepped up.

Forsberg said sophomores Bryon Fanning (18:15.8) and junior Beau Johnston (18:25.7) led the pack strongly.

Forsberg added freshman Cass Violett (19:13.5) finished with a 31 second personal record, Jake Ramsey (18:45.9) took 23 seconds off his fastest time, and Finn Hanson (21:13.9) had a 1:15 PR in the junior varsity face which will bump him up to varsity for the October 2 meet in Three Forks.

Others competing for the Wolves in the varsity race were Jaron Berg (20:04.3), Rhett Violett (21:51.6), and Lucas Roberts (24:28.1).

The Three Forks girls team had a banner day finishing second among the Class B teams having six of seven varsity runners set personal records.

“We had an excellent meet. We have a couple of girls recovering from illness, but everyone else ran strong. Our girls are looking toward state and training hard for big goals,” Forsberg said.

Jayden Woodland led the team finishing 27th overall with a time of 20:26.0. Forsberg said Woodland had an incredible race with a 33 second PR.

Forsberg added freshman Bella Jones (22:20.0) was the number two runner for the team with a 46 second PR, Ari Judd (22:22.8) and Devyn Judd (24:29.4) each had nearly 30-second PRS, and freshman Gracie Kluin (26:37.5) ran a solid race with a 13 second PR. Isabella Fink finished the race with a time of 23:10.1.

In junior varsity action, Kodee Kolberg had a time of 26:48.8., and Rylee Dell had a time of 26:48.9.
