I was lucky enough to get a job at a daily newspaper in my hometown while I was still attending college. Don’t get me wrong, I feel like I got a good education, but I learned more in the first few weeks on the job than I did in four years of school.

The daily I worked at was part of a newspaper group, and let’s say it was not the star of the company and was oftentimes an afterthought. While the more prominent newspaper in Cheyenne had nicer things, we were the “little brother” and would get hand-me-downs.
