Election 2022: Potts running for 3-year term

Could you please give a bit of background about yourself?

My name is Christian Potts, My family moved to Montana 35+ years ago. My husband, children and I have lived in Three Forks for just over nine years. I was homeschooled through high school and have homeschooled my three oldest children through sixth grade and my youngest started going to public school in fifth grade. Currently, I have three children in the Three Forks school. I recognize and appreciate the benefits of both homeschooling and public school.

Why did you choose to run?

I have served as a board trustee in school District J-24 since July 2021 and would be honored to continue as a board trustee for the next three-year term.

What do you think the district is doing well?

With everything that this world has been enduring these past couple of years, I have been very happy with the choices that have been offered to individual students and their families. The school district has done a good job maintaining its integrity, allowing personal choice, and retaining flexibility in the 2021/22 school year.

What are the biggest challenges for the district?

One of the biggest challenges for our school is recruiting and retaining teachers and staff, especially now, for the soon-to-be-completed expansion of the school. Another one of the many challenges includes updating, maintaining, and enforcing school policies.

What qualities would you personally bring to the board?

I care deeply about the next generation. I have instilled respect for learning and a good work ethic in my own children, which every child deserves. I have been a good asset to the school board by listening to our community and striving for the best educational opportunities for our students.
