'Wishlist' items huge for food bank

Later this month, the Headwaters Area Food Bank will hand out its annual Thanksgiving Food Boxes.

In anticipation of the giveaway of the boxes scheduled for Saturday, November 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Christian Center Church in Three Forks, the HAFB has asked the public for help with “Wishlist” items.

This year’s “Wishlist” items include turkeys, canned yams, sweet potatoes, stuffing mix, canned French beans, olives, pie crust, jello, and fruit cocktail. According to HAFB Operations Manager Emily Smith, the items are essential, and they curated the list to include everything a family will need to make a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

“The season of giving is upon us, Three Forks and our surrounding areas, including Clarkston, Harrison, Willow Creek, and Manhattan, never fail to show up for those of us who are less fortunate. It is very rewarding to help facilitate providing Thanksgiving dinners to my community, and everyone can sometimes use a helping hand,” Smith said.

Those interested in receiving a Thanksgiving box can sign up at the HAFB at 216 1st Avenue West in Three Forks or find the form on the Food Bank’s Facebook page.

Smith was hired for her position in September, taking over for Kim Felder.

“As the new Operations Manager for the HAFB, I am excited to give back to a community that has given my family and me so much. Please stop in and say hello,” Smith said.
