Three Forks Speech, Drama finish third at State

It was a fantastic end to the season for the Three Forks Speech and Drama programs, with both finishing in third place at last weekend's State Meet.

"I am proud of the student effort during the State Meet in Manhattan this past weekend," said Head Coach Johnathan Sutton.

Leading the way for Three Forks were Zoe Pyfer and Taeyana Gesker, who won a state championship in Classical Theater.

Cadence Brown was third in Impromptu, Lance Demaray was third in Spontaneous Interpretation, Lydia Kluin was third in Humorous Interpretation, and Maddie Griffiths was third in Original Oratory. Jon Ross was a semifinalist in Original Oratory.

Claire Cutler and Malia Eriksson were fourth in Policy Debate, and Noah Murphy and Arlon Smith finished fifth in Public Forum Debate. Marcos Gomez was fifth in Mime, and Falisha Dale finished in sixth.

"Although it didn't work out how some students had planned, the students performed and represented the school well," Sutton said.

After two years as Head Coach, Sutton will be stepping down.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching the past two years, but I feel the need to step down to create more balance in my professional and personal life. I am committed to finding a suitable replacement as head coach for the team, and we have good prospects in our search so far. I am thankful to have taken over such a successful program, and I hope to support the program from the sidelines this next year," he said.
