Voters decline school levies

Sayers, Kennedy elected

Local voters denied on May 2 two levies that would have raised $674,000 for the Three Forks Schools. Voters also elected one incumbent and one newcomer for three-year terms on the Three Forks School Board.

In unofficial results, the $385,350 Elementary Mill Levy was defeated by a vote of 482 (for) to 774 (against). The $288,650 High School Milly Levy was defeated by a vote of 492 to 767.

The funds from this Mill Levy would have been used for increased operational costs and to fund new staffing positions.

Incumbent Lori Sayers was reelected with a total of 606 votes. Emily Kennedy will also serve a three-year term after receiving 449 votes.

Lori Van Vleet received 398 votes, Travis Short had 315 votes, and Brooke Pestel had 312.
