Counties to receive MCEP Grants

Gallatin and Broadwater Counties will each receive $750,000 in Montana Coal Endowment Program (MCEP) Grants for replacing the two bridges on Old Town Road.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signed House Bill 11 earlier this month, which will allocate the funds to the governing bodies.

At a meeting last week, Broadwater County Commission Chair Debbi Randolph announced they had received confirmation on the funding from the Governor's office.

According to a project page created by Stahly Engineering and Associates, an advertisement for construction bids for the project will go out in October, with the bridge's construction taking place from December 2023 through March 2024.

The Old Town Bridge in Gallatin County was closed after being ruled unsafe for vehicles or pedestrians after a regularly scheduled MDT inspection on June 6, 2022.
