Our View: Think of attending unique fundraiser

Looking for something unique to do on a Friday night in Three Forks?

On July 7, residents will have the chance for a great night out that also affords the opportunity to give back to a worthwhile organization that preserves the area's history.

The Three Forks Area Historical Society and High Desert Murder Mysteries are hosting "Class Reunions are Murder," an interactive murder mystery. Tickets for the event scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church Annex are $35, which will include dinner. The event will be a fundraiser for the Three Forks Area Historical Society.

For those unfamiliar with the local historical society, the organization's members go above and beyond each year, providing residents and tourists with the opportunity to learn more about the area's history at the Headwaters Heritage and Railroad and Trident Heritage Center.

These two museums are such assets to the community and would not be possible without local volunteers' countless hours of work.

To have such a dedicated group of local residents working hard to preserve the history of the Three Forks area is such a boon to the community.

Money raised at Friday's event will be huge for the historical society and will be put to great use, including work on the 1939 Milwaukee Railroad Caboose and 1911 steam locomotive.

This fundraiser is also essential for the historical society after they found out they had a leak in the corner of the roof at the Headwaters Heritage Museum in January. The leak caused significant damage to the ceiling and two walls in the "dental room," and money raised will help offset the costs of the damage.

The opportunity to do something a little bit different on a Friday night while helping an amazing organization should make for a wonderful evening.
