Wolves give plenty of effort at season opener

The Three Forks High School Cross Country team had a productive start to the season at last Saturday's Jefferson Invite in Boulder.

The Wolves boys' team had two runners finish in the top five. Bryon Fanning ended the race in second with a time of 17:05, and Cass Violett finished in fifth at 18:35. Micah Gather was 13th with a time of 20:07, Kiai Ingraham was 15th with a finish at 20:24, Lucas Petersen finished in 19th with a time of 21:06, and Rhett Violett was 25th with a time of 23:12.

Christopher Harmon won the junior varsity race with a time of 19:47. Jace Wiseman finished at 25:03, and Jacoby Berg finished with a time of 27:29.

Bella Jones led the way for Three Forks in the girls' varsity race, finishing in fifth with a time of 23:06. Eight-grader Teegan Gifford was strong in her first varsity performance, finishing in ninth place at 23:45. Grace Kluin ended the race in 10th place with a time of 24:09.

In the junior varsity race, Ari Judd was the top finisher for the Wolves, placing second at 23:29, and Devynn Judd was 11th at 26:59.

Others competing in the junior varsity race were Dawson Petersen (28:19), Isabella Meehan (30:55), Aubrey Lema (33:23), Pailey Lampers (33:29), and Anna Dabling (35:19).

"The teams did well for a first meet. We love Boulder as our opener. It is nice to have a challenging course but small team numbers so the athletes can see where they are physically without the stress of competing against a large number of teams. I saw a lot of smiles and a lot of effort from my team," Head Coach Tara Forsberg said.

Three Forks will next compete later this week at the Flathead Invitational.

"We will be competing in Kalispell to preview the state course on Friday. I am hoping to see some fast times and a confidence boost from this weekend," Forsberg said.
