Wolves open conference play Thursday in Boulder

The Three Forks High School Boys' Basketball team will look to get back into the win column when they open 5B Conference play on December 14 on the road against Jefferson High School in Boulder.

After a season-opening 61-60 road win over Harrison, the Wolves dropped two games at last weekend's tournament in Shelby, 54-51 on December 8 against Fairfield and 63-48 on December 9 against Malta. In their December 11 home opener, Three Forks lost a thrilling down-to-the-wire contest 57-54 to the two-time defending Class C Champion Manhattan Christian.

Following the loss to the Eagles, Wolves Head Coach Terry Hauser praised his team's effort, which had three opportunities to tie the game with a three-pointer in the closing seconds.

"We are getting better, and we keep improving. Our kids battled. They played hard. Their effort was there every single possession, which wasn't the case the last few games. We were taking plays off. So, I am very, very happy with the effort, but it's a tough loss," Hauser said.

Dylan Swenson had a big-time night for Three Forks, finishing with 20 points. Sam Tesoro finished with eight, Caleb Van Vleet had seven, Shane Williams finished with six, Tallyn McCauley and Kanon Reichman added four, Hunter Feddes finished with three, and Colten Hayder had two.

Following the December 14 matchup in Boulder, Three Forks will return home for a conference game against Ennis on December 16.

"It's easy to have character and have a smooth locker room and everybody getting along when you're 3-1 or 4-0. Can you come together when you are 1-3 and have a couple of tough losses? We've got conference games now. Those are must wins," Hauser said.

Looking towards the matchup against Jefferson, Hauser said the Panthers shoot it well at home, and it will be another grind of a game.

In their second game in Shelby, Three Forks was upended by Malta, 63-48. Feddes led the team in scoring with 13, and Williams finished with 10. Swenson and Reichman finished with eight, Tesoro had five, and Van Vleet finished with two.
