Wrestlers compete at prestigious CMR Classic, Rogers finishes second

The Three Forks/Ennis High School Wrestling team battled against some of the best in the state at last week’s CMR Classic in Great Falls. Wrestlers also had the opportunity to participate in quality matches on December 16 at the Walt and Trudy Currie JV Tournament.

In a CRM field that featured numerous Class AA squads, the Wolves were able to finish 21st out of 56 teams.

Cole Rogers had a fantastic performance at the prestigious tournament, finishing in second place at 120 pounds.

Rogers opened the tournament with wins by fall over Billy Thompson of Great Falls CMR (:46), Jayce Kolendich of Missoula Sentinel (2:52), and Cale Hoover of Whitehall (1:310).

In the quarterfinals, Rogers picked up a 12-7 decision win over Kona Fandrich of Lockwood and won by fall in the semifinals at (3:39) over Traic Fainter of Columbus.

Rogers would lose a hard fought back and forth match in the finals 6-4 in overtime sudden victory to Chris Grossman of Billings Skyview.

Emry Veland picked up a win for Three Forks at 113 pounds with a pin over Lyric Fainter of Bigfork at (1:05). Logan Douma also had a win by fall at 126 pounds over Landon Odegard of Great Falls at (3:15).

Tatum Todd had another strong weekend for the Wolves at 132 pounds, finishing with four victories in Great Falls. Todd won his opening match 7-0 over Thomas King of Conrad and had pins over Shawn McCormick of Valier (:26), Tate Hibbs of Great Falls CMR (1:44), and Cole Dejean of Great Falls CMR (2:18).

Wyatt Hart-Barker picked up two wins at 138 pounds, winning a 7-6 decision over Colin Mehrens of Helena and had a pin over Emery Bergstedt of Glacier at (:29).

Nicolai Kovnesky won by fall over Dan Houston of Great Falls CMR at (3:33).

Carson Lattimore won by fall over Joshua Sironi at (4:56) in an 182-pound match.

At 205 pounds, Randy Ryfer had pins over Kayd McCkay of Choteau (1:20) and Bert Dennis over Helena (2:57).

Three Forks/Ennis also had numerous wrestlers compete at the Walt and Trudy Currie JV Tournament on December 16 in Great Falls.

Veland finished in first place at 103 pounds with a pin over Landon Macioroski of Forsyth (1:27) and decision wins over Diego Rodriguez of Bigfork (11-4) and Weston Block of Thompson Falls (8-3).

Douma finished in third place at 126 pounds and picked up a 9-5 win over Colin Sampson of Anaconda and pins over Hyatt Reece of Frenchtown at (1:30), Bradley Beck of Columbia Falls at (:53), and Payton Steward of Glacier at (3:33).

Todd finished in third at 132 pounds and won 9-4 over Forest DeWitt of Billings Senior and a pin of Mikaeo Rosales at (:47).

Pyfer finished in third place at 182 pounds (A) with pins over Cole Azar of Great Falls (1:28), Damien Kato of Bigfork (:25 and:41), and Liam Gage of Great Falls CMR (2:28).

Travis Halvorsen had two wins at 138 pounds, winning by fall over Landon Wasson of Great Falls at (1:09) and Michael Spears of Belgrade at (2:17).

Vincent Diaz finished in fourth place in the 182B Division with pins over Cale Goodain of Missoula Big Sky (1:19) and Brady Hout of Ronan (2:03). Diaz also had a 7-4 decision win over Rylee Wiggins of Forsyth.

The Wolves will next compete on Thursday, December 21 at a home mixer.
