Historical society changes date of May meeting, need volunteers for Museums

The regular monthly meeting for the Three Forks Area Historical Society will be Thursday, MAY 9th, due to the Give Big fundraiser the week before.

The meeting will be in the Methodist Church Annex at 7:00 p.m.. Items on the agenda include: cleaning for the museums, volunteers, progress of the new Past Perfect program and updates on the caboose and steam locomotive.

Refreshments will be served after the meeting by Jerry and Cheryl Lehr. Everyone is invited to come to the meeting and find out about area history! Please call Pat O'Brien Townsend at 406-285-3633 for any questions.

Volunteers

The Historical Society is looking for more volunteers to help at the Headwaters Heritage Museum and the Railroad and Trident Heritage Center.

Shift choices are 7 days of the week, mornings or afternoons and 2-or 4-hour shifts. Training

is given and new volunteers are not expected to work by themselves. Some volunteers choose to be a substitute and only work a shift when another volunteer is ill, has appointments or visitors in town.

We are also looking for someone to help with weeding the flower beds at the Sacajawea Park throughout the summer and to help with our scanning project.

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community! We have approximately 5,000 visitors every season who come from all over the United States and the world. Your "pay" is meeting all these people who are interested in history, learning about Three Forks area and Montana history and working with a very fun group of other volunteers!

A wonderful volunteer appreciation luncheon is held every fall.

Please call Cheryl Lehr at 406-581-5546 or Pat O'Brien Townsend at 406-285-3633 if you are interested or have questions.
