Three Forks Tennis shines at Simms Sing and Swing

The Three Forks High School Tennis team had fantastic results at last week's Simms Sing and Swing Invitational.

On the first day of action on April 19, the Wolves won six of seven singles matches, and another four in doubles play.

Number one singles player Malia Eriksson won 6-4, 6-3 over Gabby Baker of Poplar and 6-2, 6-2 over Tanna Erickson of Wolf Point. At number two singles, Ali Kotter had a 6-2, 6-2 win over Hailey Greyhawk of Wolf Point. Sophie Meskimen had two wins at number three singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Malia McDonald of Poplar and defeated Kamila Heinz of Wolf Point, 6-3, 6-2. Sarah Christman won a match at number four singles with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Kai Veillieux of Wolf Point.

The number one doubles team of Maddie Griffiths and Karin Williams won 6-2, 6-4 over Baker and McDonald of Poplar.

The number two doubles team of Claire Cutler and Mikayla Leaer won 6-4, 6-3 over Essence Headdress and Jayda Falcon of Poplar and 6-2, 6-4 over Reese Diemert and Torri Otto of CJI.

The doubles team of Kotter and Meskimen won 6-2, 6-2 over Piper Erickson and Isabelle Blair of CJI.

On April 20, Eriksson won 6-2, 6-2 over Hannah Bach of Fort Benton.

After losing the first set 6-4 to Maddie Doney of Fort Benton, Kotter won the second set 6-2 and the super tiebreaker 11-9.

Meskimen won her first match 6-4, 6-3 over Kailyn Rominger of Fort Benton. Meskimen won her first set 6-4 in her second match over Mekayla Brown of Chinook. After falling 7-5 in the second set, Meskimen won the super tiebreaker 10-6.

Christman won 6-3, 6-2 over Katie Cline of Fort Benton, and 6-2 over Kamber Bender of Fairfield.

In doubles play, Griffiths and Williams won 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 (Super Tiebreaker) over Zoe Donner and Alexis Clark of Fort Benton. They also picked up a win in Super Tiebreaker over Enna Liddle and Ashlyn Jensen of Chinook.

The Wolves Junior Varsity team traveled to Townsend on April 18 for matches against host Broadwater County High School and Jefferson.

In singles play, Tommi Kirwan had a 6-4, 7-6 win over Hailey Hildreth of Broadwater, and Amanda Wilcox picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Addy Leary of Jefferson. In doubles action, Violet Donnelly and Lydia Ogeka battled Olivia Sorenson and Ane Skarpas of Jefferson, winning the first set 6-3 and falling in the second set, 6-4.
