A small portion of the Jefferson River near Three Forks is closed to all recreation. The closure extends from Williams' Bridge Fishing Access Site to the bridge on Meridian Road. High river flows coupled with ongoing repairs to Meridian Bridge have created a hazardous obstruction for people floating on the river. The closure will remain in effect until further notice. A few days ago, the Three Forks High School conducted a ceremony for the Class of 2023. I wish all the graduates well in the future, whether moving on to college, the workforce, taking some time off, or not having a clue what they will do, which is perfectly fine too. While it certainly does not feel like yesterday, I cannot believe that I graduated from high school nearly 30 years ago, which makes me sad. Where did the time go? The City of Three Forks recently reported two sightings of a large rattlesnake along the Headwaters Trail System. Gov. Greg Gianforte announced Friday that Henry “Hank” Worsech is retiring as director of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, the agency charged with managing Montana’s wildlife and 55 state parks. Dustin Temple, who’s been serving as the agency’s acting director, will take Worsech’s place overseeing the department. At least eight states this year have decided to seek federal approval to extend postpartum Medicaid coverage, leaving just a handful that have opted not to guarantee at least a year of health care for women during that critical period after pregnancy. From the Three Forks Area Ambulance Three Forks Area Ambulance had a very busy May, we responded to 23 calls! Whiteline EMT course is coming to an end in mid-June. We are excited to add 3-4 EMTs from this class. All the students worked extremely hard and had hours of hands-on scenario training. This training covered medical and trauma situations with volunteer patients. Three Forks Area Ambulance added 6 new EMTs between April and May. TFAA also added 3 new ambulance drivers in May. The Gallatin County Parks Department is holding the third annual Fishing Derby, in honor of Father’s Day, at the Kendeda Lake in the Gallatin County Regional Park in Bozeman.
