Members of Cub Scout Pack 523 made a trip Tuesday night to visit with the Three Forks City Council.

In a blind ballot, three Council members voted to appoint Erin Schattauer to the council and one voted in favor of Steve Dahl. City Clerk/Deputy Treasurer Crystal Turner told the council they must have at least four votes to select the replacement for longtime council member Ed Tharp.

The council will vote again on the replacement at their next meeting in February.

Schattauer said she is currently on the Planning and Zoning Board and moved here two years ago because her family was looking for a smaller and more welcoming community and Three Forks had everything they were looking for. Schattauer told the governing body she believes it is her duty to serve the town and this is the best way she can do it.

Dahl said he raised his three kids in Three Forks and started an auto shop business in town in 2013, adding it is an excellent place to raise kids. Dahl told council members his experience in business gives him an understanding of the town and how it works.
