2 Wolves qualify for state

The Three Forks High School wrestling team has qualified two wrestlers for this week's state tournament in Billings.

Freshmen Dylan Kamps and Levi Wagner both stamped their ticket to state with top-four finishes at last Saturday's Southern B/C Divisional Tournament in Cascade. Wagner finished in third place at 132 pounds and Kamps finished in fourth at 126 pounds.

After a bye in the opening round, Wagner won by fall in 31 seconds in the quarterfinals against Cael O'Dell of Broadwater. After losing in the semifinals to eventual champion Mike Wilkinson of Whitehall, Wagner won his final two matches by fall over Jace Oxarart of Boulder (:53), and Riley Richtmyer of Townsend (2:27).

Kamps opened up his tournament with a win by at the 1:33 mark over Evan Sereday of White Sulphur Springs. After falling to Alleck Holloway of Whitehall in the quarterfinals, Kamps bounced back with wins by fall over Gavin Watson of Whitehall (2:03), and John Ocenosak of Great Falls (1:41). Kamps lost in the third-place match 7-0 to Holloway.


Chase Kirkland finished in fifth place at 120 pounds. He picked up a 9-2 decision win over Colke Jeske of Boulder and defeated Tommy Emmerson 4-0 in the fifth-place match.

Domanic LaBonte finished in sixth place at 205 pounds.

He opened the tournament with a 7-4 decision win over Leo Scafani of Whitehall.

Jeff Klompien (103), Klayton Kotter (113), Sam Schade (138), Jesse Eide (152), Byron Hay (160), and Kace Eriksson (170) also competed for the Wolves.

The 2020 State Tournament is scheduled for Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 at the Metra Park Arena in Billings.
