Our View: New Seats Great for Arena

February 26, 2020

PIctured is last year's rodeo.

The Three Forks Rodeo Arena may soon be receiving a major upgrade with 2,286 new seats. The City Council voted last week 5-0 in favor of adding the seats. Mayor Sean Gifford will still need to sign the contract for it to move forward.

This would be a really great upgrade for a facility that was utilized for 35 different events during the 50-day season in 2019.

The Three Forks Rodeo is always a huge event for local residents.

While the upgraded bleachers do have a significant cost of $473,800, this is a positive move for the City. The Saturday night performance in 2019 had record attendance for the two days was $4,630. The Three Forks Rodeo Dayz are the biggest event of the year and had record attendance in 2019. The two-nights of rodeo is a huge deal for the City and with the growth are bringing in spectators from across the area.

The new bleachers are not only better for comfort and cosmetics, but they are also important for the event moving forward. The NRA Rodeo in Three Forks should do nothing but grow and having the new bleachers will do nothing but help.

And along with the annual NRA rodeo, the 50 days season had approximately 9,100 attended events in 2019. People from Three Forks and the surrounding areas really do utilize the arena.

The new bleachers are something the city, rodeo board members, and residents of Three Forks should be really proud of. A lot of people from outside the city will attend the rodeo and other events and having a great facility is something for the city to hang their hat on. This is a job well done.
