    In 2023, the Montana State Legislature passed the State-Local Infrastructure Partnership Act (SLIPA), which appropriated $20 million from the state general fund to the Montana Department of Commerce to be distributed to incorporated cities and towns as grants based on infrastructure repair and maintenance. $172,000 of this funding has been set aside for the City of Three Forks, requiring a 25 percent match of $43,000.     It might be an understatement to say the Three Forks High School Boys' Basketball team had a tremendous start to their January 26 home game against Townsend. The Wolves came out firing on all cylinders on both sides of the court, taking a 28-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 49-13 lead into halftime on their way to an 83-39 win over the Bulldogs.     The Three Forks High School Girls' Basketball team was dominant from start to finish in a January 26 conference road victory over Lone Peak.     Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, in partnership with Montana State University (MSU), have brought on new staff and students in preparation for this year's field season to study rainbow and brown trout declines and fish health concerns in the Jefferson Basin.     The closing of 2023 brought another reason to celebrate a year of successful land conservation efforts for the Gallatin Valley Land Trust. In cooperation with generous landowners, GVLT closed their 128th conservation easement on a 407-acre property located along the Jefferson River west of Three Forks.
