With a fourth-place finish at last week's Divisional Tournament in Anaconda, the Three Forks High School Girls' Golf team qualified for the state tournament this week in Shelby. The boys' team just missed out on qualifying with a fifth-place finish. The divisional round had perfect weather and a course in great shape. • Guest Op-Ed: Montana House Leaders Recap the 68th Legislative Session

    May 17, 2023

Disclaimer: The views expressed in Op-Ed’s published in the Three Forks Voice are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the publication. The 68th Session of the Montana Legislature is one that every Montanan can be proud of. Voters sent a Republican supermajority to Helena and the first thing we did was return overpaid tax dollars to you as well as providing the largest tax cut in Montana state history. As Republicans our primary constitutional duty is to pass a balanced state budget. We crafted a conservative budget by k...

  • Column: Pizza Rolls, I still love you

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|May 17, 2023

I don’t travel often, but when I do, it is usually for a sporting event or concert. Perhaps even more than the actual event, my favorite part of the journey is the different restaurants I visit. Often, I will visit a place known for a specialty dish, and as soon as I get home, I am like a scientist in the kitchen trying to figure out how they made something taste so magnificent. I enjoy these moments and the countless times during the year when I cook one of the family’s favorite recipes. I’m even learning to be a bit more patient when cooking... Full story

  • Coaches Corner by Ellie West: Courage

    May 17, 2023

Courage is more than facing fear and doubt; it’s also about standing up for my beliefs and values, speaking the truth, and being open to opportunities for growth in all my experiences. By choosing to build courage, I declare my intention to live a life of my design that is true to who I am on the deepest level. I don’t know who wrote this manifesto, but I found it about three years ago when I chose a word for that year. This resonated with me, and I still ponder “courage” daily. I think about courage and what it means to different people....

  • How the 2023 Legislature tried to tackle Montana's housing crunch

    Eric Dietrich, Montana Free Press|May 17, 2023

by Eric Dietrich Montana Free Press This is news to no one: Montana is facing a historic housing crunch. Population growth, much of it driven by in-migration, has spurred demand for homes and apartments beyond available supply in many if not most of the state’s communities. According to real estate website Zillow, the state’s typical home value was nearly $428,000 as of March, up from $267,000 at the beginning of 2020. Higher rents, too, make it increasingly hard for businesses to find workers. In particularly tight markets such as Boz...
