  • Rasmussen Captures National Championship in Goat Tying, Moeykens finishes as reserve champion in barrel racing

    Jun 21, 2023

When Paige Rasmussen needed it the most she came up with the performance of her life for the Montana State Rodeo team on Saturday night at the 2023 College Rodeo National Finals in Casper, Wyoming. Rasmussen posted a 6.0 run in the Championship Go of the goat tying, her best run of the week and just enough for the Bobcat senior to claim her second College Rodeo National Finals Championship, and her first in an individual event. • Our View: More volunteers needed for events

    Jun 21, 2023

I am a massive supporter of events that bring the community together. In Three Forks, this includes Rodeo Dayz, the Christmas Stroll, and the Farmer’s Market. Many don’t realize these events do not happen without the countless hours of volunteers whose time and effort truly make a difference. In last week’s Three Forks Voice, an article about the local chamber of commerce discussed the organization’s struggles with finding volunteers, and this is a problem that is happening nationwide. It would be awful to see events organized by the chamber... Full story

  • Column: Oh no, you cannot be closed

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Jun 21, 2023

Earlier this month, I made the seven-hour trip to my hometown in Wyoming. While often the trip was filled with many activities, this time had a much more relaxed feel, and I did not leave my mom’s house often. It was a great time visiting with my mom and not trying to catch up with all of the friends I don’t see often. My mom’s dog, Bella, might have been a bit too aggressive, pestering me as I sat in the recliner, but I enjoyed my visit with her too. One of the best parts of my visits is eating at some of the establishments I grew up with...

  • Coaches Corner by Ellie West: The Robins Nest

    Jun 21, 2023

I love robins as they are symbols of renewal and transformation, and just like spring, they represent new beginnings. And we certainly have our share of robins this year! When I woke up the other morning, I noticed four robins’ nests being built in an area I prefer they didn’t nest. So, I took a broom and swept the area to try and discourage the robins from building their nests. I cleaned up the area, and a short time later, I looked out the window and saw some robins picking up the residue left on our driveway to start rebuilding their nest. I...

House Bill 332, sponsored by Rep. David Bedey, R-Hamilton, directs $40 million in one-time funds into establishing that trust, provided that a minimum of 150 school districts with a collective pool of 12,000 employees agree to participate. The bill, which passed the 2023 Legislature with...

HELENA – New emergency fishing regulations are in place for the Big Hole, Beaverhead and Ruby rivers. The Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission adopted the new regulations during its June 8 meeting. These restrictions limit angling during the brown trout spawning season and harvest in some stretches of the rivers.
