    Sean Gifford will remain Mayor of Three Forks. In unofficial final results provided by Gallatin County, the incumbent received 332 votes, defeating current council member and longtime Mayor Gene Townsend who had 177 votes, and Carl "Bud" Mohler Jr who had 26 votes. Gifford was appointed in June to fill the seat of Steven Hamilton. Voters also approved the election of three council members.     The Three Forks School District is hosting its annual Veterans Day program next week. Under the direction of Susan Pitcher, the program is scheduled for Monday, November 11 at 9 a.m. in the new gym.   • Headwaters Area Food Bank has wish list

    With Thanksgiving Boxes set to be distributed later this month, the Headwaters Area Food Bank has a "Wish List" for the holidays. According to Operations Manager Kim Gelder, the boxes will be handed out November 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those interested in receiving a box are asked to stop by the food bank at 12 E. Cedar in Three Forks or to call 406-285-3559. The current "Wish List" for the food bank includes canned soup, canned fruit, rice, dry beans, and canned vegetables.     A team of community members has come together to help support the family of a beloved Gallatin County Sheriff's Office deputy who lost his life in the line of duty. On Tuesday night, the group created an online fundraiser seeking donations to help the family of Deputy Jake Allmendinger, who was killed in a tragic accident in the Bridger Mountains on the night of Oct. 19.     Mel McKitrick passed away October 30, 2019 in Ennis, Montana. Mel was surrounded by his family as he passed peacefully after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Melvin Joseph McKitrick, the first of 5 children, to Maurice McKitrick and Ruth Hatch McKitrick, on March 15, 1947 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Mel spent his summers as a child with his grandparents, Joseph and Della Hatch, on the Hungry Horse Ranch in the mountains of Tetonia, Idaho. According to Principal Steven Fanning, members of the posse assist during recess blocks for grades K-2, acting as peer mentors and problem solvers.     A storm last Monday led to some pretty nasty conditions on Interstate 90 throughout Southwest Montana. A jackknifed semi near Logan blocked both westbound lanes of traffic Monday afternoon and there were multiple other incidents of wrecks and slide-offs reported in the Gallatin Valley. There was also a crash reported on Homestake Pass between Whitehall and Butte.
