It's once again time for the annual Three Forks Chamber of Commerce Christmas Stroll. This year's popular local event is scheduled for Friday, December 1 and will feature numerous family friendly activities. While residents of the Gallatin Valley have the convenience of dropping off items at recycle bins, including at 150 E. Railroad Avenue in Three Forks, county officials remind them to be mindful of what they deposit. As much as I would have liked to visit my mom for Thanksgiving last week, it was too difficult to deliver the paper in Three Forks on Wednesday and prepare to publish the December edition of the Lewis and Clark Journal. The Three Forks Community Library is starting a new tradition this holiday season. Beginning on December 1 and through December 25, the "Festival of Stories: Celebrating Holidays Around Town" will feature a guest Three Forks resident or business owner reading a story that will be posted at 11 a.m. daily on the library's Facebook page (@ThreeForksCommunityLibrary). Gallatin County is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a one-year planning grant from the Montana Healthcare Foundation to help develop a comprehensive business plan for a regional day treatment school. Governor Greg Gianforte announced last week Montana reached its 24th consecutive month of unemployment below 3%. On Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at approximately 3:19 PM, Gallatin County 911 received a call from a GPS device monitoring service. A device the company monitors had recently been activated near Grotto Falls in Hyalite Canyon. Gallatin County dispatch later received a 911 phone call from an eyewitness stating an ice climber had fallen and was injured. Merrill Arbuckle Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023, at his home in Three Forks, Montana. He was 81 years old.
