The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) recently announced and invited the public to comment on a proposal to resurface about five miles of Interstate 90 (I 90), near Three Forks. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is currently completing an Environmental Assessment to facilitate the acquisition of 30 acres for permanent inclusion into the Missouri Headwaters State Park near Three Forks. The Gallatin County Commission is disappointed in the Montana Supreme Court’s ruling last week that will force us to collect over $12.3 million in additional taxes to the state. Earlier this fall, Gallatin County joined 48 other Montana counties in levying 77.9 mills this tax year for the state’s school equalization mills, instead of the 95 mills requested by the state. Hunter success in southwestern Montana continued to trend mostly at or below average during the latter half of the general deer and elk hunting season, according to data gathered by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks biologists. A federal judge issued an order Thursday blocking Montana's first-of-its-kind ban on social media platform TikTok, preventing the ban from taking effect as scheduled on Jan. 1. As the Three Forks/Ennis High School Wrestling team readies for the second week of competition, they will do so with a roster that includes senior leaders Alex Fletcher, Jack Hayder, Gabe Hungerford, and Cole Rogers. In Gallatin County, 14% of adults aged 18 years and older currently smoke cigarettes, according to the 2021 Montana Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). Speech and Drama had an amazing weekend in Helena. It was a huge meet, with over 500 competitors! All impromptu finished in the top half. Fallen Cardwell placed 11th of 60 in HOI. Abby Diaz, Alysium Collins, and Lauren Welch placed 7th in Classical Theater. Jordan Berg placed 5th in SPOI. Lance Demaray finished 1st in SPOI.
