    After a brief break during the holidays, the 2020 All School Reunion committee will meet again Tuesday, January 7, at the Three Forks Library. The meeting will start at 6:45 p.m. Anyone interested in helping plan this reunion is welcome to attend the meeting.     It was a year of change for the Three Forks City government which included the appointment and eventual reelection of a new Mayor. Longtime council member Ed Tharp resigned effective December 31, 2018. In February, the Council voted 4-1 to select Steven Dahl as the new member. In May, Mayor Steven Hamilton announced he would be resigning from the position effective June 2. Hamilton was elected to his first term in 2013 and to his current term in 2017.     It was a busy year for the Three Forks School District. The start of the 2019-20 school year brought an increase of students in the Three Forks School District. At a Three Forks School Board meeting, 8-12 Principal Greg Heys and K-5 Principal Steve Fanning updated the trustees on the enrollment numbers prior to the first day of school August 21. Heys reported there are 72 in sixth grade, 68 in seventh, and 61 in eighth for a total of 201 in the middle school, an increase of 18 from last year....

    There were plenty of success stories for Three Forks High School sports in 2019. The Three Forks High School basketball teams both made return trips to state in 2019. In February, the third-seeded Lady Wolves won three games in three days to win their third consecutive 5B District Tournament Title.     Leo Arthur Schmitt, 76, of Laurel, Montana, returned to his heavenly home on December 18, 2019. He was born March 9, 1943, in Bozeman, Montana, to Floyd and Freda (Thompson) Schmitt. He was the 2nd oldest of 7 children. He graduated from Three Forks High School in 1961. He married Patricia Joan Esterby on June 7, 1970, in Billings, MT. Leo enlisted in the Air Force in Aug. 1961. He was an aircraft mechanic and worked on the flight line for the fighter jets. He also served in Okinawa with temporary duty in Saigon. He was discharged in May of 196...
